Skinny Chocolate Chip Banana Cookies

Think eating healthy means you have to sacrifice flavor and all those FUN foods you love? No Way!


If you've been around my blog long, then you know I'm all about that healthy life balance. And that means you absolutely can have your cookie and eat it too! Even better when that cookie boasts great health benefits!


And don't let the name fool you, these Skinny Chocolate Chip Banana Cookies do not disappoint! They're loaded with yummy flavor and chocolatey goodness.


By using bananas and applesauce in place of traditional oils and butters you can save on calories and fat, but keep all the flavor. And if you're a fan of a moister cookie, then you're going to love this tasty treat! Oh my yum!


Skinny Chocolate Chip Banana Cookies

Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed

  • 2 C rolled oats (can use gluten free)

  • 1/3 C unsweetened applesauce

  • 1 tsp. vanilla

  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

  • 1/2 -1 C carob chips (or mini chocolate chips)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Mash bananas and place in a medium mixing bowl.

  3. Next add vanilla, cinnamon, oats, and carob chips (or mini chocolate chips) to the mashed banana mixture and stir well.

  4. Allow dough to sit for 15 minutes.

  5. Drop dough by spoonful onto cookie sheet and bake approximately 20 minutes (or until lightly browned).

  6. Remove from oven and cool cookies on a baking rack before serving.

Tip - in place of chocolate chips you can substitute chopped walnuts, chopped figs, raisins, dried cranberries or chocolate chips. With endless possibilities you can easily add variety and play with flavor!
