Skinny Chocolate Chip Banana Cookies

Think eating clean means you have to sacrifice flavor and those foods you enjoy most? No way! Simply delicious are these Skinny Chocolate Chip Banana Cookies! Proving you can have your cookie and eat it too! Using bananas and applesauce in place of traditional oils or butters is a great way to reduce empty calories and unhealthy fat intakes. And when you cut out all the empty calorie ingredients you can enjoy all the wholesome, rich and moist flavor of a great cookie! Clean eating never tasted so good.


Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed

  • 2 C rolled oats (can use gluten free)

  • 1/3 C unsweetened applesauce

  • 1 tsp. vanilla

  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

  • 1/2 -1 C chocolate chips (or carob chips)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Mash bananas, stir in oats, carob chips, vanilla, and oil and stir well.

  3. Allow dough to sit for 15 minutes.

  4. Drop dough by spoonful onto cookie sheet and bake approximately 20 minutes (or until lightly browned).

  5. Remove from oven and cool cookies on a baking rack before serving.

Tip - in place of chocolate chips you can substitute chopped walnuts, chopped figs, raisins, dried cranberries or chocolate chips. With endless possibilities you can easily add variety and play with flavor!
