Red, White And Blue Cocktail

Whether you're looking for a fun summer cocktail (or mocktail) or a fun festive concoction to share with friends and family as you celebrate the 4th of July this year, this simple Red, White And Blue Cocktail will do the trick!

Decked out in red berries and melon, white apple slices, and blue blueberries, it can easily be made without the alcohol by subbing out the wine for your favorite low calorie lemonade!

Because nothing says summer like sipping on a fresh fruit concoction poured from a large pitcher. And once you discover how easy it is to make, well you might just find yourself looking for more occasions to whip up a fun batch!

Red, White, And Blue Cocktail

Ingredients

  • 5-6 large strawberries, halved

  • 1 C watermelon, cubed

  • 1/2 apple (choose your favorite!)

  • 1/2 C blueberries

  • 1 bottle of your favorite white or red wine

  • 6oz. of club soda or ginger ale (use 1/2 a 120z. can or bottle)

  • Fresh sprig of mint (optional)

  • Fresh lime wedge

Directions

  1. Prepare fruit by washing and removing the stems from strawberries and slicing each berry lengthwise and put them in a large pitcher.

  2. Next slice and cube watermelon into squares, add to pitcher.

  3. Remove skin from the apple and core, then slice lengthwise into large circles. Using a start shaped cookie cutter (or you can do it free hand with a small pairing knife) make star shaped apple wedges, add to pitcher.

  4. Wash blueberries and add them to the pitcher.

  5. Pour wine (or lemonade!) into the pitcher (1/2 or full bottle depending on how large your pitcher is - be sure and save 1/3 space to top with club soda or ginger ale!)

  6. Top with 6oz. of club soda or ginger ale for a bit of extra kick.

  7. Serve with a sprig of fresh mint or lime wedge for a bit of decoration and added flavor flair!

More add-in ideas: for cocktails you can add a bit of rum, brandy or vodka and for mocktails try adding a bit of cranberry juice - yum!

Sip and Enjoy!
