Power Greens Smoothie

Updated: Dec 17, 2020

I love a good smoothie! Why? Because it's one of the easiest ways to support my health and wellness by supplying all sorts of nutrients, one sip at a time.

If one of your goals includes eating healthier smoothies may be your new best friend. Here's the deal, most of us don't have time to sit down and ensure we're getting a diversity of fruits, vegetables, proteins, complex carbs, and healthy fats at each and every meal. I mean that's a lot of prep.

But with a smoothie, you just throw it all in the blender and go! So whether you have a busy morning, could use a mid afternoon pick-me-up, or need a quick post workout refuel, the smoothie is hands down one of the easiest grab-and-goes.

And it's a great way to sneak in a few extra servings of those nutrient packed fruits and veggies (especially for picky eaters -- no judgement!), which most folks are not getting enough of their daily diet. Not sure where to start? The Power Greens Smoothie! It's sweet with just a bit of tart, delivers a power packed punch of nutritional value, will leave your tummy happy, boost energy, and support those healthy eating goals too.

  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder

  • 1 C fresh organic baby spinach

  • 1/2 apple (use granny smith for added tartness!)

  • 1/2 pear

  • 1 banana

  • 1 slice fresh ginger (or 1/4 - 1/2 tsp. ground)

  • 1 tsp. flax oil (or ground flax seed)

  • 1/2 C unsweetened vanilla almond milk (or milk of choice)

  • Ice to thickness

A few smoothie tips:

  1. Did you know you can freeze those overripe bananas to use later? When you start to see your bananas start to go a little too brown simply peel and place them in a large ziplock bag and put them in the freezer to use later! They work great for those “oops I am out of bananas!” moments and the versatility of having them on hand will come in quite handy for other recipes too (a clean eats soft serve anyone?)

  2. If increasing the amount of frozen ingredients (berries and banana for example) then you will also need to increase the amount of almond milk (or add a bit of water) to your mix as this will better help you blend your smoothie to drinkable consistency.

Drink and Enjoy!
